before we get into the video, i want to tell y'all about the time i ate too much before going to the gym.

so i had just signed up for a membership at the Y - a brand new location - and i thought, "hmm, i need to eat before running, what should i make?" guess what was in my line of vision? oatmeal.
i'm like, "cool, i'll make a big bowl of oats."
i hit the bike first (and last) peddling like i didn't have to walk home. after about 15 minutes i start feeling uneasy. instead of listening to my body, i kept going.
i've worked out too hard many times without getting sick. this time, i wasn't so lucky. feeling terrible i stand to leave, get to the front door, then turn back to run to the restroom.
all of my food came up. all. of. it.
the worst part is that i wasn't alone in the restroom and someone else heard everything. ugh.
now i only eat fruit or smoothies (with a small amount of rolled oats) before working out. i definitely learned my lesson.
today i'm bringing to you one of my favorite pre-workout smoothie recipes. the oats, along with the kale and hemp milk, provide you with all the protein you need before hitting the gym.
i'm particularly fond of the sweet and tart taste of the berries, bananas, and grapefruit. be warned: the grapefruit is strong so if you don't like the taste, use very little or eliminate it all together.
even if you don't workout, this recipe is great for breakfast! the oats really bulk up the smoothie so you feel satisfied.
